What are Club Nights?

The title Club Night was commonly used in the fifties and sixties by organizations in order to exploit a loophole in the law. The loophole allowed night-clubs and theatre companies to put on shows that were deemed not fit for public or theatre audiences as instructed by the Lord Chamberlain’s department. The performances had to be put on for free and only for the benefit of friends and members of the company. Many well known plays like John Osborne’s A Patriot for Me started life in this manner.

The origins of Everyman’s own club night season stem from that period and the name club night (or clubnight) has remained ever since. Club nights are free for anybody to attend and you don’t have to be a member. They are held every Wednesday at 8:00 pm at Chapter Arts Centre, Market Rd., Canton, Cardiff, from September to May unless otherwise stated.

Much Ado About Nothing

Much Ado About Nothing is a sharp, smart and farcical comedy about a showdown between the sexes and what it takes to make love happen. The play contains elements of love, villainy, friendship, parent/child relationships, society and customs and uses tragedy, melodrama, comedy and farce to produce a true classic which is timeless in its appeal.
