What am I looking for?
I am looking for five committed actors, three female, two male for this exciting, short one act comedy.
What will you need to bring to the rehearsal process?
You will need to be focused as this play will require you to have a thorough understanding of what your fellow cast members are doing, for example this is a fast paced comedy adopting some elements of farce. I am looking for a dynamic group that will not require spoon feeding. You are a small group of five actors where most of you are in every scene at some point.
What will I give you?
As well as, hopefully, a fun and fulfilling rehearsal process you will have, working with you, a great production team with strong attention to detail. Also, with your input, a production that befits the reputation of one of the most prolific and successful writers working in Wales today.
Don't let the Festival be a barrier to you auditioning!
Please do not let the allure and commitment required for the festival put you off what I believe is a great opportunity.
I am concerned at the timing of the auditions as they are a week before the Festival auditions. It is also the last production before the Festival rehearsal process begins. I must stress this is a short play, which given the reputation of the writer, carries its own kudos. It is such a short production you should be comfortably behind your first pint in the Chapter bar by 9:30pm - even with an 8:00pm start!
Please do bear in mind the run completes on 15 May. Plenty of time to refresh yourselves for your next conquest.
What is the audition process and what are the requirements?
You do not need to prepare anything. However, it would be preferable and helpful for you to have read Miss Julie or at least know of the play and what it is about, and done some rundimentry research into August Strindberg. This research will pay dividends when analysing the Strindberg Knew My Father script.
The auditions will be held in a workshop format with groups of approx five. We will be working on scenes from the play. We will also discuss your thoughts on the play and any particular roles you may be interested in. Recalls, if required, will take place on the following Friday evening.
Rehearsals will begin in earnest in March and will take place Mon, Thurs evenings and Sunday afternoons.
So don't delay! Book an audition NOW and be part of a truly innovative and exciting piece of theatre. Call Toby Harris on: 07794494377.
