Background

Hi everyone
Following on from Lysistrata last year, I’m keeping to a Greek war theme with my next production - Euripides’ Trojan Woman – but switching genre from comedy to tragedy. Rather than a cheeky girl power anti-war fantasy, we’ll be looking at what really happened to women in wartime – and still does.
As Troy lies in ashes, the women of the city wait to see what will befall them, including Queen Hecabe. Her husband and sons are dead and now she must now face losing her daughters to a fate worse than death.
We’re going for a modern feel. Think Berlin, 1945 after the Russian soldiers have finished with it: utter destruction with appalling consequences for the women of the city.
